Southern Philippines Adult Infectious Diseases and Research Institute

The formal post-residency training of the Southern Philippines Adult Infectious Diseases and Research Institute (SPAIDRI) is the pioneering training program in adult infectious diseases and tropical medicine in Mindanao. The established facilities and special units in Southern Philippines Medical Center such as TB DOTS, Programmatic Management of Drug Resistant TB (PMDT), HIV-AIDS Core Team (HACT) Clinic, Infection and Prevention Control Unit (IPCU), Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) Program, Molecular and Microbiology Laboratory alongside the growing number of infectious disease specialists in the region compose the pillars of the training program.

SPAIDRI is geared towards proactive education to its trainees through imparting medical knowledge related to microbiology, sharing clinical experiences in managing patients with infectious disease and imbibing values needed to be an efficient and compassionate member of the healthcare team. It is composed of highly experienced and knowledgeable specialists in the field of infectious diseases and tropical medicine.

The Institute has a 2-year post-residency fellowship training program accredited by the Philippine Society of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (PSMID). Its main objective is to produce specialists equipped with knowledge in basic and clinical microbiology and infectious diseases with competence in clinical research. A graduate of the 2-year fellowship program may have an option for an extended 1-year clinical research fellowship.
